KIDS GAMES 2009

2009 was a big year for Kids Games in Fiji. Kids Games is one of the mission activities of the Bible Society where children are invited to organized games and which is followed by some Bible talks and distribution of scriptures to participants. Hence, two Kids Games were conducted in Viti Levu and a big one in December on the beautiful island of Taveuni. The venues of the games in Viti Levu were Nadali in Nausori and Talenaua Village in the province of Namosi. As for the Taveuni Games, BSSP Staff and program facilitators Charles Cleary and Sakeasi Qalilawa were all billeted in Somosomo, Waiyevo, Wailagi, Delaivione and Wairiki. Part of the group helping out Charles and Saki were 14 young Australians from the Bible Society of New South Wales who played an active role in the program. Bible Society of New South Wales has been funding this program for the last 7 years and praise God for this provision which has blessed so many kids already in Fiji and the Pacific. Children participating in the games receive a Bible for themselves after the Kids Games Program. 500 story books and 500 bibles were given out in the 3 locations of the Kids Games 2009.

According to Charles, one of the highlights of their Vanua Levu trip was when they got stuck in Savusavu for three days because of Cyclone Mick. Some of the visiting friends from Australia got sick. It was a very challenging experience for almost all of them. And since a number of them were on their first mission trip, such an ordeal really made them ask questions about God. After all that the team had gone through, they were grateful to God for His guidance and for the opportunity to be a channel for His living Word to the kids in Fiji.
